Is there a new Joker movie?
No. There is no new Joker movie announced, in production, or scheduled for release as of this writing. The most recent Joker film was Joker: Folie à Deux, which opened in theaters on October 4, 2024.
Warner Bros. and DC Studios have not confirmed a third film in the Todd Phillips series, and no other Joker feature has a release date.
What was the last Joker movie released?
Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) is the latest Joker movie. It is a direct sequel to the 2019 film Joker, again directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck.
Lady Gaga joined the cast as Harley Quinn, and the sequel used musical numbers throughout. Reviews were mixed, and the film earned far less at the box office than the first movie.
Has Joker 3 been announced?
No. Todd Phillips has said publicly that he told the story he wanted to tell across the two films. Warner Bros. has not attached a writer, director, or release date to any third Joker project.
Joaquin Phoenix has also given no indication that he plans to return to the role. Without a studio announcement, any "Joker 3" report should be treated as speculation.
Will the Joker appear in other DC movies?
A separate version of the character, played by Barry Keoghan, appeared in a deleted scene from The Batman (2022). Matt Reeves is directing a sequel, The Batman Part II, currently dated for October 1, 2027.
Warner Bros. has not confirmed whether the Joker appears in that film. James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe has likewise not announced a standalone Joker movie.
Why do Joker 3 rumors keep circulating?
Rumors spread because the Joker is one of the most recognizable characters in comics and because the 2019 film earned more than $1 billion worldwide. Fan accounts and aggregator sites often repeat unverified casting claims.
Reliable confirmation comes from the studio, the director, or major trade publications. Until one of those sources confirms a film, no new Joker movie exists.
