Short answer
No. Warner Bros. has not announced a new Joker movie. The most recent film, Joker: Folie à Deux, opened in US theaters on October 4, 2024. Director Todd Phillips said in press interviews tied to that release that the sequel closed his run with the character. No third film has a date, a script credit, or a cast list.
The two films that exist
- Joker (2019). Directed by Todd Phillips. Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck. Won two Oscars: Best Actor and Best Original Score. Worldwide gross passed $1 billion.
- Joker: Folie à Deux (2024). Phillips returned as director and co-writer. Phoenix returned. Lady Gaga played Harley Quinn. The film used a musical format with courtroom scenes.
The sequel cost a reported $190 million to $200 million. It grossed about $207 million worldwide. That result makes a direct follow-up with the same cast and director unlikely on business grounds alone.
Why a third film is not in motion
Phillips described the second film as his final entry in the series. Phoenix gave the same answer in separate interviews. Warner Bros. has not listed a Joker project on its announced release calendar. DC Studios, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, has not put a Joker solo film on its published slate.
Joker roles outside the Phillips films
- The Batman (2022). Barry Keoghan played a Joker cameo in a deleted and partial scene. The Batman Part II is dated for October 1, 2027. Whether Keoghan appears is unconfirmed.
- Animation. Joker appears in animated features such as Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) and the Lego Batman films. These are not new releases.
- Television. Joker characters do not appear in Penguin or other Gotham series on HBO.
What would signal a new film
- A dated slot on the Warner Bros. release calendar.
- A trade report from Variety, Deadline, or The Hollywood Reporter naming a director and writer.
- A DC Studios slate update that lists a Joker title.
Until one of those three appears, the answer stays no. Check the Warner Bros. theatrical schedule for dates. Claims on social media about a "Joker 3" trailer or script leak have no studio source.

Common mix-ups
Some search results point to Joker (2019) re-releases, IMAX screenings, or fan edits. Others point to unrelated crime films that use the word joker in the title. Neither is a new Joker movie. A reported sequel to The Batman is a separate franchise and does not carry the Joker title.
