The short answer
There is no Joker 3 in development. Todd Phillips, who wrote and directed both Joker (2019) and Joker: Folie à Deux (2024), has said in interviews that he is finished with the character and with DC films generally. Warner Bros. has not announced a sequel, a spinoff, or a revival of that timeline. So if you are waiting on a release date for a third Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie, there isn't one to wait for.

What actually happened with Folie à Deux
The sequel opened in October 2024 to a sharply divided reception. Critics were split, audiences were harsher, and the box office fell well short of the 2019 film, which had crossed a billion dollars worldwide. The movie moved to home streaming and physical release within a few months, which is normal for a title that does not sustain a long theatrical run. That combination, weak grosses plus a director who says he is done, is why the sequel question keeps getting answered with a no.
Where the Joker shows up next on screen
- Barry Keoghan's Joker appeared in a deleted scene from The Batman and a brief moment in the released film. He is tied to Matt Reeves' Batman continuity, not Phillips' standalone universe.
- The Batman Part II is the project where that version would logically return, though Reeves and the studio have kept casting details close.
- DC Studios under James Gunn is building a separate rebooted timeline. No Joker casting or solo film has been confirmed for it.
How I'd check for updates
Trade press moves first on this stuff. If a Joker project gets greenlit, you will see it in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, or Deadline before any official studio announcement. Casting news, a director attachment, and a dated press release tend to arrive in that order. Until one of those lands, treat any "Joker 3 confirmed" headline as clickbait, especially if it cites an unnamed insider and no trade outlet.

What is not happening
There is no Lady Gaga Harley Quinn spinoff in production. There is no Phoenix return. There is no Ayer or Snyder cut style re-release campaign for Folie à Deux. The character stays alive in comics and animation, and on film he is parked in the Reeves corner of the DC slate.
